Unless you have a car, it makes the most sense to stay on the strip.
It is about one year too early to book for 2024, but it can be useful to look at prices rooms are going for this year. I've found the week of Labor Day (1st weekend in September) through the middle of October to be some of the nicest weather, along with more limited crowds.
